Bible References That
Jesus Created the Earth
LDS theology teaches that Jesus Christ was Jehovah, the God of Israel in the Old Testament. We also believe that the Earth was created by Jesus/Jehovah under the direction of God the Father. Deity did not change between Old and New Testaments. Just as the Jews were saved by the name of Jehovah in the O.T., we are saved by the Name of Christ in this day.
Here are some of the Bible verses that sustain Christ as Creator.
Genesis 1:1, 26
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."
We all know that God created the earth, the reason I included these two verses is because it establishes that there were two Gods involved in the creation. In simple terms, God The Father was the foreman and Jesus Christ, God The Son, was the contractor.
Job 38:4
"Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding."
This verse comes from the passage where Jehovah, who is Jesus, is reproving Job. Jesus is reaffirming that He laid the foundations and created the earth.
Isaiah 41:20
"That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it."
Jesus was the Holy One of Israel, therefore, He created the earth.
John 1:1-3
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."
John is testifying that Jesus, The Word, was with God The Father in the beginning, and that it was in fact Jesus that created the earth and all things on it.
John 8:57-58
"Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am."
This is the pivotal verse that ties it all together. Jesus is really aggravating the Pharisees because He just confirmed that He was Jehovah, the Old Testament God of Israel that spoke to Abraham. "I Am" was another name for God. He just called Himself God and they almost killed Him for blasphemy.
Ephesians 3:9
"And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:"
Paul is blatantly teaching the Ephesians that God created the earth through Jesus Christ. The Savior created the earth He would come to and save.
Hebrews 1:2
"Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;"
Once again, Paul reiterates that Jesus was the God of creation, as directed by the will and design of The Eternal Father who oversaw Him.
