The Salt Lake Temple Apostles Room
The Apostles Room is located on the administration floor of the Salt Lake Temple.
In this room, the Quorum of Twelve Apostles and the First Presidency meet weekly to pray, seek guidance and inspiration of The Lord, and discuss the spiritual and temporal affairs of the Church. Their meetings begin with a hymn, a prayer and they take the sacrament. Here's some church trivia for you. Any decision made by the First Presidency and Apostles must receive a unanimous vote. This is in the spirit of the New Testament apostles being of one accord.
The altars of the temple are an emblem of Jesus Christ, so as the apostles kneel to pray at the altar they are figuratively kneeling before Christ. It's also a visual representation of Christ presiding over the leadership of the church.
