The Salt Lake Temple Main Hallway
The main hallway is located on the basement floor of the Salt Lake Temple. It is accessed by patrons through a sub-level annex. The rooms adjacent to the main hallway include the baptistry, the Creation Room and the Garden Room. The temple is a house of learning, and the lessons are taught through symbolism. For example, the main hallway is on an incline and each room is elevated slightly higher than the other. This is an aesthetic representation of temple patrons drawing closer to God. Other symbolism associated with the rooms and function of the temple will be explained on each page of this tour.
The hallway features fine, hand-carved pioneer era moldings and woodwork.
